Position Summary:

This role will develop and implement programs which identify and reduce resident and employee exposure to potential hazards. This role will also provide direction to staff and on-site leadership team for establishing and sustaining the safety culture of the company. Other responsibilities include establishing best safety practices, conducting safety site evaluations/audits, orientation/safety training of supervisory and support personnel, monitoring safety compliance.


Required Experience for Safety Coordinator:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field
  • 5+ years relevant experience and 2+ years’ experience managing a team
  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Must have a strong passion for safety and have the ability to think ahead
  • Strong analytical thinking and proactive solution identification skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct training effectively and lead change across multiple sites
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skill
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Primary Responsibilities of Safety Coordinator:

  • Manage safety platform to monitor status of safety training and drills in senior living communities
  • Create and distribute safety reports
  • Design and Facilitate Safety Training
  • Awareness of safety training needs at new builds/acquisitions
  • Participate in Broadcast Alert System Calls (real events and drills)
  • Lead and Coordinate Safety Initiatives on Special Projects
  • Lead Weekly Safety Committee Meeting
  • Manage Safety Email Inbox
  • Conduct safety audits
  • Develop safety standards
  • Ensure safety program scales with company growth

General Working Conditions: This position entails standing for long periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens.  The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
