  • Overview

    The Director of Technology will provide complex technical support to the Chief Information Officer, executing on the vision of the department.  The Director will provide oversight of IT Infrastructure design and security for CommonSail Investment Group as well as our subsidiary companies with primary locations in Brighton, MI, Milford, MI, Milwaukee, WI, Schaumburg, IL and 20+ senior living communities located throughout Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  They will offer continued support as we expand with a strategy that doubles our size within the coming 18 months.

     

    Required Experience for a Director of Technology:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in information systems, computer science, or a related field
    • Ten (10) years of information systems design and security and five (5) years of leading a team of 20 or more technical specialists
    • Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis

    Primary Responsibilities of a Director of Technology:

    • Management of IT Infrastructure and other technology implementation for new community builds; including connectivity, MDF and IDF build-out, low voltage cabling design as well as management of installation partners, door access control and video surveillance, nurse call and point of sale platforms
    • Leadership of IT Help Desk Supervisor and team serving roughly 1,000 employees at current, and growing by 50% or more over the next 18 months
    • Managing service to meet our established Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) with our business partners
    • Understands the strategic direction of the enterprise and the supporting Technology systems and architectures
    • Maintains knowledge of emerging technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to educate both Technology Team and the businesses on opportunities to build better, more secure Technology solutions that enhance an experience or create an efficiency
    • Coordinate with dedicated Project Management Team to review building floorplans and designation of placement of door access control, video cameras, and WAPs then defining the low voltage cabling design using CAD software for connectivity between IDFs and MDF and aforementioned technology end-points
    • Coordination through Project Management Team with 3rd Party Partners for design and installation of Nurse Call pull cords, pendants and access points, as well as with Point of Sale (POS) Partner for location of WAPs, computers and tablets to support the site needs
    • Responsible for connectivity between sites and the internet, firewall security, server design and support to include server monitoring, threat detection, server health and capacity, backup compliance and bandwidth utilization and needs
    • Oversight of telecommunications including PRIs, internally hosted VoiP telephony, voice conferencing, and IVR programs
    • Management and further development of Video Conferencing solutions, including conference room design and remote user access
    • Oversight of Tier I through III technology support personnel including Help Desk, Network and Server Infrastructure support team, and Project Management Team
    • Management of priorities, resources, timelines and delivery of services within the established SLA’s
    • Development of team members – with established development plans and monthly feedback
    • Assessment of Organizational Structure in alignment with high quality, timely servicing of our varied businesses
    • Responsible for management of $4M budget as well as the financial assessment and presentation relative to new technology recommendations
    • Attend and participate in professional group meetings. Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems
    • May be required to provide 24-7 on-call support for escalated issues
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
